Best Paint Products for Atlantic Seaboard Homes

Product selection matters more on the Atlantic Seaboard than anywhere else in Cape Town. The combination of salt spray, intense UV and ocean humidity demands paints and coating systems at the top of their performance range. Exterior Masonry Paints

For exterior masonry in Clifton and Camps Bay, Dulux Weathershield Maximum Protect and Plascon Micatex provide the strongest moisture barrier and UV resistance in the standard range. For the most exposed beachfront elevations, ask about two-pack elastomeric coating systems that provide a stronger, more flexible membrane than standard acrylic paint. These products cost significantly more but last significantly longer in the toughest Atlantic Seaboard positions.

Metal Coating Systems

For metal on the Atlantic Seaboard, standard zinc-phosphate primer is not sufficient. Two-pack epoxy primer followed by two-pack polyurethane or epoxy topcoat is the correct system for gates, balustrades and structural metalwork in the Clifton salt environment.
